The pursuit of absolute quality and a new path for Italian winemaking led to the creation of Tenuta dell`Ornellaia — a place with limitless potential, managed by wise and experienced individuals who strive to turn each vintage into a masterpiece. The Tenuta dell`Ornellaia winery was founded by Marquis Lodovico Antinori, a member of the renowned Antinori winemaking family, in 1981, located in the most beautiful part of Tuscany. From the very beginning, the company`s goal was to create outstanding wines. Thanks to passion and dedication combined with a unique terroir and exceptional climate, the wines produced here have achieved stunning success and fame, and the Tenuta dell`Ornellaia winery has become one of the most significant in the world. The philosophy of Tenuta dell`Ornellaia is based on the pursuit of high quality. The estate`s vineyards are located in Bolgheri, a Tuscan subregion near the Tyrrhenian Sea. The mild Mediterranean climate and excellent soils create ideal conditions for grape ripening. The total area of the vineyards is 97 hectares, where the varieties Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot are grown. The production technology for each specific vintage is chosen based on the characteristics of the harvest, and grapes are hand-harvested only when they reach optimal ripeness. In homage to the unique and precious terroir, grapes from each vineyard are fermented separately. Thanks to the people who pour their heart and soul into their work, truly unique and great Super Tuscan wines are created. Today, the estate is part of the Marchesi de’Frescobaldi group, owned by the famous Frescobaldi winemaking family — one of the best wine producers in Italy.
