About the Manufacturer
The history of Martini began in the 19th century. In 1847, in the town of Pessione in the Piedmont region, a company for the production of wines and liqueurs was founded. One of the partners was a commercial agent, Alessandro Martini. Luigi Rossi, an expert in herbs and a winemaker, after researching various flavorings, found an excellent combination for vermouth. Luigi Rossi and Alessandro Martini became the owners of the company, and their vermouth was named "martini." Their heirs brought the company to the rank of the most famous vermouth producers. The large number of various medals proves the high merits of the drink. Even King Umberto I of Piedmont allowed the company to place his coat of arms—a white cross on a red background—on the label. At the end of the 20th century, "Martini & Rossi" became the owner of several well-known alcoholic companies: "Offley," "Otar," "Benedictine Liqueur." In 1992, it joined the industrial group "Bacardi." Currently, over 200 million bottles of Martini are sold annually worldwide.
