Interesting facts
"Redigaffi" is an unforgettable high-class Italian dry red wine — a stunning expression of the true character of great Merlot. The vineyards are located in Suvereto (Tuscany). The soils of the vineyards are clayey with gravel inclusions. The harvest is hand-picked in the first week of September into 15-kilogram boxes. After fermentation of the must in oak barrels, the wine is aged on the lees in new French barriques for 18-20 months. After bottling, the wine is stored in the winery's cellars for another six months before being released for sale. The peak maturity of the 2018 vintage will be from 2022 to 2045. "Redigaffi" has received the highest rating of 100 points from world-class experts several times, a distinction that only a few wines have achieved in recent decades! This places "Redigaffi" among extraordinary wines that true connoisseurs and collectors have sought after for years, as wines of this caliber are produced in very limited quantities. The year 2018 was considered exceptionally good for Tuscany by most experts. Despite some issues such as heavy rains and hail, favorable summer weather with hot days and cooler nights allowed for a strong and healthy harvest. The red wines of this season demonstrated juicy fruitiness, good acidity, and structure. The luxurious "Redigaffi," which first appeared on the market in 1994, is almost immediately sold out before it even reaches the shelves. Therefore, if you want to enhance your collection or enjoy its complex and elegant taste, you should hurry to acquire "Redigaffi," as the estate produces no more than 9,000 bottles of this exquisite wine each year.
About the Manufacturer
In 1984, spouses Rita Tua and Virgilio Bisti acquired the estate located in the town of Notri. The ancient town with picturesque surroundings is situated at an altitude of 100 meters above sea level. The surrounding vineyards grow predominantly on chalky and clay soils rich in zinc and iron, which is why the wines of this region have a well-defined minerality. The new owners decided to plant Cabernet and Merlot varieties in their vineyards, from which the first wine — Giusto di Notri — was produced in 1992, immediately receiving high praise from experts for its distinctive "Tuscan" character and depth of flavor. Two years later, Tua Rita introduced the wine "Redigaffi," made from Merlot grapes. Its success was overwhelming. The 2000 vintage was particularly successful, when the Italian wine received a maximum score of 100 points from wine critic Robert Parker, and the prestigious magazine "Revue du Vin de France" included it among the top hundred wines in the world. Thanks to this recognition, the owners of the family business were able to modernize production and expand the vineyard area to 50 hectares. Rita and Virgilio believe that the quality of wine depends on the condition of the vine, and therefore the main, most responsible types of work in the vineyards are carried out manually and with great respect for the land and plants. Currently, Tua Rita, with the help of highly professional enologist Stefano Chioccioli, produces 5 types of red and 2 types of white wine with a total volume of about 110,000 bottles per year. Most of the produced wines are sold outside Italy.
