Interesting facts
"Woodhaven" is a line of quality, elegant varietal wines for everyday consumption. "Woodhaven" wines are made from selected and ripe California grapes of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, and others. These wines have a characteristic varietal aroma and balanced taste. They are produced at the modern Woodhaven winery, whose wines are characterized by a European style. The grapes for "Woodhaven" Zinfandel were harvested from vineyards in Northern California at their peak ripeness during the cool morning hours to preserve the fullness of their aroma and flavor. The harvest underwent prolonged fermentation to ensure complete extraction of all qualities and the development of soft, rounded tannins.
About the Manufacturer
The "Delicato" company was founded by Gaspare Indelicato, who emigrated from Sicily in 1924. Gaspare discovered the similarity of the Italian climate with the warm and sunny climate of California. His dream was to grow quality grapes to create premium wines at accessible prices. He planted a small vineyard of 4.8 hectares at the foot of the mountains near Lodi. Gradually, the company expanded. Gaspare's sons acquired new vineyards, including the San Bernabe vineyard in the coolest part of the Monterey Valley. This vineyard became the cornerstone of Delicato's wine quality. Today, the family winery owns 2833 hectares of vineyards located in various climate zones of California — from the cool Monterey coast to the hot foothills of the Sierra Nevada in Lodi. Delicato is one of the most successful American wineries. Each year, the estate sells more than sixteen and a half million bottles of wine worldwide. The successes of Delicato's winemakers have not gone unnoticed. The prestigious International Wine & Spirits Competition awarded "Delicato Family" the honorary title of "Best Winery of the Year in the USA" for two consecutive years, in 2001 and 2002. Additionally, Delicato's Shiraz was named the best California wine in its category at the annual California State Fair in both 2001 and 2002.
