Interesting facts
"Tre" is the youngest wine of the Brancaia estate, first created in 2000, and immediately won a silver medal at the "International Wine Challenge" in 2002. The wine "Tre" (Italian for "three") received its name for three reasons: • the grapes are grown in the vineyards of three estates owned by Brancaia — Brancaia, Poppiano, and Brancaia in Maremma; • the wine blend consists of three grape varieties; • "Tre" is the third wine of the estate. During the production of "Tre", alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel tanks at a temperature of 30-32 °C for 18 days. The wine is aged for a total of 14 months: first 12 months in 500-liter tonneaux, 50% of which are new, and then 2 months in bottles. The character of the wine allows it to be enjoyed young, but it can also be stored for 10-15 years. The Brancaia estate, which combines two estates — Brancaia and Poppiano, has been owned since 1981 by a couple from Switzerland — Brigitte and Bruno Widmer. In wine production, they collaborate with Martin Kronenberg Widmer. Since 1983, when one of the wines won the first prize at a local competition, the production has been accompanied by success. Today, "La Brancaia" wines are considered classics among connoisseurs, and the production is based on principles such as the search for an independent style and commitment to quality. Martin is responsible for the company's management, while Barbara, being an experienced winemaker, is responsible for wine production. The famous Dr. Carlo Ferrini serves as a consultant to the winemakers.
