Interesting facts
To create the dry rosé wine "Luna" Rosato, Terre Siciliane IGT, the producer uses Nero d'Avola grapes grown in vineyards with alluvial and sandy-clay soils, located at an altitude of 450 meters above sea level and having a southeast exposure. A brief maceration on the skins at a temperature of 8 °C lasts for 8 days, after which fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for 20 days at a temperature of 12-14 °C. After bottling, the wine remains in bottles for some time before being released for stabilization.
About the Manufacturer
The history of the Vaccaro winery began in the 1970s when Giacomo Vaccaro and his wife, Caterina, purchased a small farm in the municipality of Salaparuta. This region in southwestern Sicily was severely affected by the earthquake of 1968. Here, they decided to build their future and a business based on an endless love for the beautiful, scarred land. In 1990, the project evolved into a company called Vaccaro—a modern winery equipped with the latest in enology and inspired by the winemaking enthusiasm of its founders. Giacomo and Caterina's children, Carmelo and Katia, also work at the winery, and their grandchildren, Luigi and Caterina, are preparing to join the family business soon. The Vaccaro estate stretches across almost the entire territory of the Belice River valley. The area of their own vineyards, where indigenous and international varieties are grown and harvested exclusively by hand, is 45 hectares. The family's history, ambitions, roots, mission, philosophy, and values are symbolically encoded in the brand's logo. The foundation of the composition is a shield, representing the main support of the company and the Giacomo family. It protects the winery and firmly holds all members of the Vaccaro family in its embrace. The diamond symbolizes transparency in business, purity of intentions, diamond-hard principles, and the strength of the bonds between land and man. At the same time, it alludes to Caterina, a loving mother and virtuous wife. The curving lines placed in the foreground reflect the fertile hills of Salaparuta and resemble the silhouette of a hawk flying over the vineyards in an unceasing search for perfection.
