Interesting facts
Di Lenardo, "Gossip" Pinot Grigio Ramato is an elegant dry white wine with an attractive copper hue, reflected in the name of the wine, as the term "Ramato" translates from Italian to "copper." The wine is made from Pinot Grigio grapes grown in the estate's vineyards in the Friuli region. Harvesting is done by hand when the grapes reach optimal ripeness. After careful sorting, the grapes undergo gentle pressing and further maceration on the skins overnight, providing the characteristic copper hue of the wine. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 15°C. The wine is aged on fine lees with regular batonnage in the same steel containers. Before bottling, the wine is filtered using a new biosystem called Flowtation. After bottling, the wine is left in the winery's cellar for another 2 months.
About the Manufacturer
Di Lenardo winery, located in the Friuli region, has its history dating back to 1878 when a family estate surrounded by vineyards was built in Friuli Grave. The ancestors of the current owner and enologist of the winery — Massimo Di Lenardo — have been engaged in viticulture in this region since the early 1800s. However, it was Massimo who managed to elevate the company to a high level by creating wines of amazing taste and quality, as well as implementing new vineyard and winery management methods. Massimo decided to produce wines only from his own harvest, planted new, carefully selected grape varieties, and increased the planting density to 6000 vines per hectare. To the four main vineyards — Vigne dai Vieris, Vigne da San Martin, Vigne da Lis Maris, and Tiare D Albe, occupying 40 hectares out of 150 owned by Di Lenardo, Massimo added another 5 hectares by renting a vineyard in Aquileia. The harvest is collected exclusively by hand. New electronic temperature control methods are used during fermentation to improve the quality of the final product. Massimo Di Lenardo's efforts have not gone unnoticed. His wines have received high ratings from experts, and the renowned magazine "Gambero Rosso" named Di Lenardo wines the best in terms of price/quality ratio in the Friuli region. Massimo himself says that although the winery and cellars are located in Friuli, "in reality, we are located ... on the Moon, because our wines are very individual, and their tastes are not typical for the region, but very typical ... for us!"
