"Tito's" Handmade Vodka is the world's first craft vodka, produced in Austin at one of the oldest distilleries in Texas. It undergoes micro-distillation in old pot stills, as is typically done with single malt Scotch whisky or French cognac. This process is quite labor-intensive and lengthy, but it allows for vodka that is purified of phenols, complex esters, and organic acids. It is made from corn and is gluten-free. The vodka is an excellent digestif and also works wonderfully for making various cocktails.
About the Manufacturer
Tito Beveridge, the founder of the Tito's brand, hails from San Antonio, Texas. He studied geology and geophysics and worked in oil and gas companies first in Texas and then in Venezuela and Colombia, but after a while realized he wanted to start his own business. Tito returned to Austin and began making flavored vodka for his friends and family as holiday gifts. But at one family gathering, a man approached him and asked if it was true that he made flavored vodka. He admired it and suggested selling the first batch of bottles. From that moment on, Tito seriously considered starting his own business. Despite some difficulties, in 1995 he obtained the first license in Texas for producing handmade vodka. The vodka is produced by Fifth Generation, which was founded in Austin, Texas, in 1995.
