About the Manufacturer
The name of the vodka comes from a small village called Koskenkorva, located in southwestern Finland. For decades, farmers have cultivated barley varieties Saana and Elmeri, which, combined with spring water, produce the purest, smooth vodka. Thanks to the continuous distillation process, the vodka does not require additional carbon filtration. In 1888, in the Finnish town of Rajamäki, a group of engineers founded the company Altia. It was engaged in the production of pressed yeast, vinegar, and spirits. In 1919, after Finland became independent, the "Prohibition Law" was enacted, and the factory became state-owned. After the law was repealed in 1932, the company Oy Alkoholiliike Ab was established to produce legalized alcoholic beverages. From 1969 to 1995, the company operated under the name Oy Alko AB, holding a monopoly on the production of alcoholic beverages in Finland. In 1995, Finland joined the European Economic Area (EEA), and the monopoly related to foreign trade was lifted. Alko Ltd was divided into three independent subsidiaries, and the parent company was renamed Altia Group. Today, Altia Group produces its own brands: Blossa, Chill Out, Koskenkorva, Valhalla, O.P. Anderson, Renault, Larsen, and Xanté. The company's products are well-known in many countries around the world.
