Interesting facts
Markus Molitor, "Bernkasteler Badstube" Riesling Kabinett is a semi-sweet white wine from Germany, produced from noble Riesling vines. The grapes for the wine are grown on a vineyard located along the Mosel River, near the village of Bernkastel. The rocky gentle slope where the Riesling vines grow consists of slate deposits. The thin layer of soil forces the vines to root deeply in search of nutrients, resulting in unique wines with bright mineral acidity from this Riesling region. The "Bernkasteler Badstube" Riesling Kabinett is enjoyable even in its youth, but will require several years of additional bottle aging to develop even greater complexity and elegance.
About the Manufacturer
Markus Molitor is a German winemaker whose family has been cultivating vines for eight generations. Markus inherited the estate from his father when he was 20 years old. He set himself the ambitious task of creating wines that had made Mosel famous over a century ago. All the vineyards owned by the Molitor family are unique, predominantly located on steep slopes. The vineyards stretch from Brauneberg to Traben-Trarbach and the Saar River. The main varieties are Riesling, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Noir, which has not been grown in Mosel since the 1930s. The production itself is located in the picturesque Velener Klosterberg. The harvest is collected from 15 plots, which are processed only by hand. The company`s specialists conduct a thorough selection of berries in several stages. Special attention is paid to the timing of the harvest, as this affects the quality of the wines produced. The berries must reach optimal ripeness, despite autumn frosts and rains. Markus Molitor wines have their own color coding for bottles depending on the type: dry wines have a white cap; semi-dry wines have a green cap, and sweet wines have a golden cap. One, two, or three stars in the wine`s name indicate not the taste or type of wine, but the degree of ripeness of the grapes. All wines bear the quality mark Made by Molitor.
