Interesting facts
Rheingau Riesling Tradition is a premium-level Riesling with 35 g/l residual sugar, ranking among the elite of German Rieslings. It is made from grapes from the best Kiedrich sites, where yields are strictly controlled. The vineyards are dominated by stony soils with inclusions of loess and loam. The sustainable viticulture practices of the estate exclude the use of pesticides. Grapes from different sites are fermented separately. After gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks under strictly controlled temperature. The wine is aged for a short time in steel tanks. The wine has an aging potential of 10 years.
About the Manufacturer
Weingut Robert Weil was founded in Kiedrich in 1875. The history of the winery, now managed by the fourth generation of the family, has been marked by a series of fortunate coincidences that have had a beneficial effect not only on its creation but also on its subsequent development. Today, Weingut Robert Weil owns unique vineyards in the Rheingau, among them Kiedrich Turmberg—one of the estate's best vineyards on a separate hill next to the Grafenberg vineyard, rated as Premier Cru. The Rheingau is an autonomous region on the Rhine, whose landscape is inextricably linked with viticulture. Its winemaking traditions were established by monasteries and large aristocratic wine estates. Riesling thrives here and makes it possible to produce very fine, elegant wines that are less massive than their counterparts from Grafenberg. Winemaker Wilhelm Weil, who manages the estate today, was named "Winemaker of the Year" in 1997 and called the most consistently brilliant winemaker in the Rheingau. "Over the last decade, no one has done as much for the reputation of Rheingau wines and the glory of German winemaking in general as Wilhelm Weil."
