Interesting facts
"Albarara Cru Artigianale" is an elegant white wine made from Albana grapes grown in the organic vineyard "Roversano", located in the municipality of San Carlo at an altitude of about 400 meters above sea level on sandy-limestone soils with tuff veins. The climate here is very favorable due to the constant exchange of air flows with the Adriatic and the Alps. The planting density is 3500 vines per hectare. Harvesting is done manually in early September, selecting only the best, fully ripe bunches. The grapes undergo double sorting — in the vineyard and at the winery. Pressing is done with whole bunches, after which the must is settled at low temperatures. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for two weeks. Half of the wine is aged in steel containers, while the other half is aged in oak barrels for 8 months. After bottling, the wine rests for at least another year in the winery's cellars. No fining or filtration is performed. The wine has a storage potential of at least 10 years.
About the Manufacturer
The Tenuta Santa Lucia winery was established in the late 1960s in the heart of Emilia-Romagna. At that time, the estate specialized in the production of grains, meat, milk, fruits, and wine. It was only in the late 1990s that the decision was made to focus exclusively on winemaking. The company's goal is to produce high-quality wines using natural methods and in harmony with its territory. The vineyards, covering about 20 hectares, are planted exclusively with indigenous varieties — Albana, Famoso, Centese, and Sangiovese. The cultivation methods are organic and biodynamic. Green manures are also periodically used — plants grown for incorporation into the soil to improve its structure, enrich it with nitrogen, and suppress weed growth. All procedures are carried out according to the Maria Thun calendar, which follows the biodynamic approach to agriculture proposed by Rudolf Steiner in the early 20th century.
