Interesting facts
Chateau du Monastère, 2014 is an exceptionally pleasant wine, created under the attention and care of women. Its rounded silky taste is complemented by magnificent soft tannins. The wine conveys the character of the region, reflecting its beauty and uniqueness as seen through the eyes of women. Chateau du Monastère, located in the heart of the Graves region, has existed since the 17th century. The estate currently owns 28 hectares of vineyards located on gravel soils with exceptionally favorable exposure. The character of the terroir contributes to the slow ripening of the grapes, from which experienced winemakers — mother and daughter Amélie and Hélène Durand — create refined elegant wines using family traditions that have developed over five generations.
About the Manufacturer
The Durand family, uniting under their wing Chateau Doms and Chateau du Monastère, opened the company Vignobles Parage in 1982. Its holdings are located in the heart of the Graves appellation — one of the most prestigious wine regions in Bordeaux, named for its soil composition. Its sandy-gravel foundation is an ideal mix for growing vines, providing excellent drainage and the ability to create a powerful root system. Additionally, the smooth surface of the land reflects sunlight beautifully, giving additional warmth to the clusters, aiding in their better ripening. At Vignobles Parage vineyards, four grape varieties are grown: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sémillon, and Sauvignon Blanc, from which, thanks to "female magic," constantly evolving yet unchanging in long-standing quality wines are created from generation to generation. In 1995, the production facilities were reorganized: a new wine storage cellar was built, and necessary equipment and technological innovations were purchased.
