Interesting facts
Brunello di Montalcino "Cerretalto" is made from Sangiovese grapes grown in the "Cerretalto" vineyard in the eastern part of Montalcino, which is located in a natural amphitheater by the river Asso. Thanks to the microclimate, soils, low yield of the vines, and great attention from the winemakers, the wine has a unique character and magnificent balance of flavor. This wine is not produced every year, only in those seasons when the harvest is deemed perfect. Being a very late-ripening variety, Sangiovese is harvested in the first half of October. Fermentation and maceration last about 32 days, after which the wine matures in small French oak barrels for 36 months, followed by 24 months in bottles. The wine has a very long aging potential, with the peak maturity of the 2015 vintage expected between 2022 and 2042. Brunello di Montalcino "Cerretalto" is recommended to be decanted at least 3 hours before serving.
About the Manufacturer
The Casanova di Neri winery was founded in 1971 when Giovanni Neri acquired a large estate in Montalcino, an area renowned for its excellent conditions for growing grapes and creating great wines. The estate originally had 35 hectares of vineyards. Gradually, Giovanni Neri added other lands, so today the winery has a total of about 60 hectares, divided into four vineyards: "Pietradonice", located in Castelnuovo dell`Abate, "Le Cetine" in Sant`Angelo in Colle, "Cerretalto" and "Fiesole" to the east, near the estate, opposite Montalcino. Spanning various slopes of Montalcino, the vineyards are influenced by radical differences in soil, microclimate, environment, and flora. Each wine from "Casanova di Neri" reflects these differences and possesses individual character and consistently high quality. The total area of the Casanova di Neri estate is 350 hectares, and in addition to vineyards, olive groves are planted here. In 2000, new cellars were built at the Casanova di Neri estate, which are entirely underground and equipped with the latest technology.
