Interesting facts
"GreenLife" Sauvignon Blanc Bubbles is a refreshing sparkling wine made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes from the Robertson Valley in the Western Cape. Harvesting is done in the morning when the air temperature is coolest, and the berries are fresh. At the winery, destemming and gentle pressing are performed. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks under strict temperature control (around 13 °C). Stabilization, filtration, and carbonation of the young wine follow. The result is a clean and lively sparkling wine, perfect as an aperitif, as well as paired with fish and seafood, vegetables, and snacks.
About the Manufacturer
The history of the Goedverwacht winery began in the 1960s on the border of the towns of Robertson and Bonnievale. Engineer Gabriel Andrik du Toit, who dreamed of becoming a winemaker, acquired two neighboring farms in the picturesque Breede River Valley, covering only 70 hectares. He also added his own farm and founded the winery. Today, the estate features a farmhouse and a cozy wine tasting center. The vineyard area is 180 hectares and encompasses a wide range of terroirs, soil types, and microclimates. Goedverwacht produces 2 million liters of wine annually. Although this is significantly below the total potential of the vines, the owner believes that the quality of the wine benefits from it. 50% of the produced beverages are exported to Canada, the UK, the Netherlands, and Germany. Meticulous attention to detail in vineyard management, sustainable farming practices, combined with a principle of minimal intervention in the cellar, are the secrets behind Goedverwacht's unique wines. The elegant South African blue crane, Antropoides Paradisia, is an endangered bird. One morning, a wounded crane was found at Goedverwacht. The bird was rescued, treated, and released back into the wild. Today, the blue crane is a proud symbol of the Goedverwacht winery.
