Interesting facts
The wine "Altagracia", named after Bart Araujo's paternal grandmother, is a Bordeaux-style blend vinified using the same method as the flagship wine "Eisele Vineyard" Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes for "Altagracia" come from both the legendary "Eisele Vineyard" and several other vineyards in Napa Valley, where the Araujo company has long-term lease contracts. The red wine "Altagracia" is light and pleasant in its youth, while also possessing good aging potential and development — 15-20 years.
About the Manufacturer
Araujo Estate Winery is located in the northeastern part of Napa Valley, east of Calistoga. The estate was created around Eisele Vineyard. In 1969, Milton and Barbara Eisele purchased the 137-acre property and named it Eisele Vineyard. Over 20 years, they established one of the greatest terroirs in Napa Valley. Not content with their achievements, Barbara and Milton sought collaboration with Paul Draper, winemaker of Ridge Vineyards. In 1971, the first vintage of "Eisele Vineyard" Cabernet Sauvignon was released. The second vintage was released by Conn Creek Winery in 1974, and from 1975 to 1991, Joseph Phelps continued the tradition, crafting wine with rich imagination. In 1990, Bart and Daphne Araujo acquired the famous land planted with the exquisite Cabernet Sauvignon variety. Over 23 years, they modernized the vineyard, obtained organic and biodynamic certifications, and built a winery with state-of-the-art equipment. In addition to Cabernet Sauvignon, the family began to grow a small percentage of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot to create unique blends. There are also small plantings of Sauvignon Blanc on the eastern slope of Eisele Vineyard.
