Beaux Freres, "Vineyard" Pinot Noir is a very expressive red wine from the small Beaux Freres estate, known for producing exceptional wines from Pinot Noir grapes. The grapes for its production are grown on the estate`s vineyard, planted back in 1988, located on the steep slopes of the fertile Willamette Valley in Oregon. The local cool climate is ideal for ripening Pinot Noir, which is undoubtedly the most popular and high-yielding variety here. The best Oregon wines made from Pinot Noir are regularly compared to their significantly more expensive counterparts from Burgundy. The grapes are hand-harvested on cool early autumn mornings to preserve the freshness of the berries. At the winery, the grapes are hand-sorted on a sorting table, after which they are pressed. During slow spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts, regular punch downs and pump overs are conducted to fully extract color, aromas, and tannins. The wine is aged on the lees for 10-12 months in French oak barrels, of which 50% are new. The finished wine is bottled without filtration and fining.
About the Manufacturer
The history of Beaux Freres began in 1986 when Michael G. Etzel, then a wine salesman from Colorado Springs, took a trip to Oregon with his young family after reading an enticing review of the 1983 vintage Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley. After touring an 88-acre farm and seeing a charming bungalow with pasture up the dirt road, they began to wonder: "Could the quiet farm life, growing grapes, and making wine be the true idyl and happiness?" Thanks to the investments of Michael`s sister, Pat, and her husband, wine critic Robert Parker Jr., the dream began to take shape. The name Beaux Freres comes from the French idiom for "brother-in-law." The following summer, they moved to the farm with three small children, and Michael began his work as vineyard manager, planting only Pinot Noir, slowly transforming his farm into a winemaking gem. Today, the winery offers tours where visitors can learn about the history of winemaking, production methods, and, of course, taste various wines. Beaux Freres is not just a place where wine is made; it is a true art appreciated by wine lovers from around the world.
