Interesting facts
Martin Codax, "Marieta" is a fresh and light white wine made from the famous Albarino variety, which is born in the picturesque Rias Baixas region of Galicia. The "Marieta" brand was created as a provocative, modern take on traditional Albarino: bright, fruity, and accessible in style. Fermentation occurs at controlled temperatures in steel tanks. After this, the process is interrupted, leaving some residual sugar, which makes it gentle and drinkable. "Marieta" has gained popularity as a "juicy coastal Albarino": combinations of peach, apple, citrus, and light sea freshness are often found in tasters' descriptions. In 2021, it won a gold medal at the "Concurso Bacchus" in Madrid, and in 2020 — gold at the Japanese "Sakura Awards". This wine is perfect for summer evenings by the sea, seafood dinners, atmospheric gatherings in open-air restaurants, or simply to refresh at the end of a hot day. It creates a mood of freedom, lightness, and freshness, like a true Atlantic breeze.
About the Manufacturer
Bodegas Martin Codax, named in honor of the famous Galician musician and poet Martin Codax from the 13th century, was founded in 1986 in the small town of Cambados, located in the Salnes Valley — the heart of the Galician Rias Baixas region. The winery specializes in producing wines from the white grape variety Albarino, known for its fruity-floral richness and extraordinary freshness. A good Albarino wine always has a mineral note, as well as honey tones that develop over time. Only estate-grown grapes from vineyards covering a total area of 190 hectares are used in production. For the Rias Baixas DO region, this is an astronomical figure, as most growers work on plots ranging from 2 to 10 hectares. At Martin Codax winery, they enjoy experimenting with late harvest, producing dry concentrated wines.
