Interesting facts
The wine "Le Rosse" Pinot Grigio is made from grapes grown in the Prunea estate in Sant'Ambrogio, which was acquired by the Tommasi family in 1997. The "Le Rosse" vineyard, located in the hilly area of Valpolicella Classica, is one of the four main vineyards of the estate and is exclusively dedicated to the cultivation of Pinot Grigio. The vines are planted quite close together, resulting in a low yield of grapes with an extremely rich flavor. During vinification, a 10-day fermentation occurs in steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine is then aged in stainless steel barrels for 4 months.
About the Manufacturer
The Tommasi family company was founded in 1902 when Giacomo Tommasi acquired his first vineyard. Over a century, the company has transformed from a small family business into a large producer owning 135 hectares of excellent land in the best wine region of Italy - Veneto. It is noteworthy that Tommasi creates wines only from grapes grown on its own estates, and their unique taste is acquired thanks to the specific soils, represented by limestone, as well as local grape varieties that maximally reflect the characteristics of the terroir. Today, skillfully combining traditional and modern winemaking methods, Tommasi produces elegant wines that annually receive high ratings from such authoritative publications as Gambero Rosso (Italy), Wine Spectator (USA), Decanter (UK), Wine Enthusiast (USA). In 2001, Tommasi was awarded the title of Best Wine House in Italy.
