Interesting facts
"Rimapere" Sauvignon Blanc is an incredibly aromatic wine made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown in the prestigious Rapaura area, in the "golden triangle" of Marlborough. This region is known for having the best conditions for grape cultivation, and the neighbors of the "Rimapere" vineyard are prestigious wineries Craggy Range and Cloudy Bay. The hand-harvested grapes undergo skin contact maceration, pneumatic pressing, settling, and fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Before bottling, the wine is filtered but not fined. The wine has a storage potential of 5-6 years. The story of "Rimapere" began when Benjamin de Rothschild dreamed of creating his own Sauvignon Blanc wine. He needed to find "the perfect gem and the right box for the gem" for precise viticulture, away from industrial vineyards. Thus, in 2009, Benjamin de Rothschild teamed up with the Peabody family from Marlborough to discuss a joint project to produce Sauvignon Blanc from a single vineyard. The identified site covered 26 hectares, including 22 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc and only 4 hectares of Pinot Noir. He later became the owner of the vineyard, naming it "Rimapere," which in Maori means "five arrows." This name honors both the Rothschild family crest and traditional New Zealand culture.
About the Manufacturer
The Rothschild name has long been synonymous with wealth and success. The winemaking traditions in the Rothschild family date back to 1868 when James de Rothschild acquired the Château Lafite estate. Almost a century later, James's great-grandson Edmond continued the family tradition by acquiring several estates in the Médoc region in 1973. The company "Baron Edmond de Rothschild" was established to develop the success achieved by two other family jewels in Bordeaux—Château Mouton Rothschild and Château Lafite Rothschild. Today, "Baron Edmond de Rothschild" is managed by the baron's son Benjamin, who, like his father, pursues a single goal—to "create world-class wines." In 1999, Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild acquired 250 hectares of land in Argentina, where a line of wines called “Flechas de los Andes” was launched in collaboration with Lauren Desso. Over time, the company expanded its production geography to New Zealand, where it purchased 26 hectares of vineyards.
