Interesting facts
Astoria, "Yu Sushi" Sparkling is a low-calorie dry white sparkling wine with an astonishingly low sugar level, originally created as a drink to accompany sushi, but over time it has also become popular as an aperitif and pairs well with any fish dishes. The wine is made from typical white grape varieties of the hilly Treviso province. The age of the vines is 8-18 years. Harvesting is done by hand in September, at the moment of optimal fruit ripeness. After destemming, the grapes undergo gentle pressing and static decantation. Primary fermentation takes place in steel containers at 18-19 °C with selected local yeast cultures. The young wine is then aged on noble lees for a month, after which it is transferred to autoclaves, where secondary fermentation lasts for 25-30 days. The subsequent aging period on the lees continues for several days, after which it is bottled and aged for a few more weeks.
About the Manufacturer
The company A.C., producing wines under the "Astoria" brand, was founded in 1987 by brothers Paolo and Giorgio Polegato, sons of Vittorio Polegato, who half a century ago became the founder of the now very well-known winery "Antonini Ceresa" (A.C.). Astoria wines are primarily produced from grapes grown in their own estate "Val de Brun" in Refrontolo, right in the heart of the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene area. In a short time, the brand became famous for its range and quality of wines, as well as the stylish design of its bottles. In addition to the famous Prosecco, a symbol of Veneto winemaking, the brothers produce sparkling wines from other grape varieties, as well as sweet wines. In 2015, the first certified organic Prosecco appeared in the Astoria range.
