The Wild Geese Classic Blend

"The Wild Geese" Classic Blend is the foundation of the "Wild Geese" brand, a classic blended malt produced by double distillation of single malt and grain whiskey and aged in bourbon barrels. The distillation took place at the Cooley Distillery in County Louth. The famous whiskey expert, critic Jim Murray, described it as "calm," and this characterization fits the blend very well. Paul Pacult from "Spirit Journal" awarded "The Wild Geese" Classic Blend a 3-Star rating and the status of "Recommended." The "Ultimate Spirits Challenge" in 2011 gave the whiskey a high score of 86 points with the comment "Very good. Highly recommended!" The whiskey also won a bronze medal at the "International Spirits Competition" held in New York in November 2011. "Wild Geese" refers to brave emigrants from Ireland who are unafraid of change. Their movement to other countries was initiated by bloody wars and natural disasters in the 17th century. "Wild Geese" also referred to Irish special units that valiantly fought beyond their homeland. Today, over 80 million people of Irish descent live in various countries. Descendants of the "Wild Geese" include Charles de Gaulle (great-grandmother was Irish), Richard Hennessy, founder of the Hennessy Cognac House, Che Guevara (grandmother was Anna Isabel Lynch), John F. Kennedy, and General of the Russian Army Count Joseph Kornilovich O'Rourke.
