Interesting facts
"Il Pumo" Sauvignon Malvasia is a white semi-dry wine from the Italian province of Apulia. The wine is produced from equal parts of Sauvignon Blanc and Malvasia Bianca grapes. The grapes are grown on clay soils in an area with high temperatures and low rainfall. The harvest is collected in the second to third decade of August. After gentle pressing, cold maceration is carried out for 6-8 hours, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 11 °C. The wine is then aged in stainless steel tanks. The wine has a storage potential of 2-3 years.
About the Manufacturer
Feudi di San Marzano winery was founded in 2003 in the southern region of Apulia, but grape cultivation in this land began several millennia ago. Historical evidence shows that grapes were grown here in the 7th century BC, and the Greeks referred to this area as Enotria, meaning the land of wine. Interestingly, the current owners of Cantine San Marzano borrowed the ancient Greek method of grape growing known as "alberello" — "bush vine". The village of San Marzano is located in the southern part of Apulia, in Salento, on red soil rich in iron, which produces the best Primitivo — a variety that symbolizes the revitalization of Apulian winemaking. Surrounding San Marzano are vineyards, of which 500 hectares are part of Feudi di San Marzano. Almost all plots are planted with indigenous varieties. The main principle of Feudi di San Marzano is to preserve and utilize typical Apulian varieties in winemaking. Feudi di San Marzano is already among the top twenty largest wineries in the country, with quality playing a key role.
