About the Manufacturer
The history of Fattoria Kappa began in 1999 when two friends — Austrian editor of "Format" Stefan Klassmann and German professional journalist and photographer Manfred Klimke — discussed the sometimes questionable quality of expensive Italian wines while on vacation in Lignano. It was then that they decided that creating quality yet affordable wine in Tuscany was an idea worth exploring. Fortunately, just a few months later, they had the opportunity to realize their idea when a friend offered them to rent a Tuscan vineyard. They enlisted the help of young winemaker Andrea di Maio, who had worked as a consultant at wineries in Tuscany and Friuli for a long time. Initially, Fattoria Kappa produced wines from purchased grapes, then from a rented vineyard near the winery in Castellina Marittima, and eventually from their own 4-hectare plot near Volterra. All vineyard work follows biodynamic principles. The young history of Fattoria Kappa unfolds as follows — in the reality of the market, making high-quality wine not just for themselves and their friends, but for true connoisseurs of fine Italian wines. Each wine must have phenomenal value and reflect what the terroir can provide in line with traditions.
