Interesting facts
Langhe DOC Nebbiolo — G.D. Vajra's quest for the innocence of Nebbiolo, its purest expression. The grapes for this wine are harvested from the surrounding young vineyards. The age of the vines ranges from 10 to 25 years. The vineyards practice exclusively organic farming methods. Intensive research is also aimed at monitoring and improving biodiversity of both flora and fauna not only in the vineyards but also in the surrounding fields and forests. Grapes are harvested when the berries reach optimal ripeness, usually in October. The decision on the harvest date for each plot is made individually, and sometimes harvesting is done in several stages. Fermentation lasts an average of 19 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 8-14 months mainly in stainless steel tanks. A small portion of the wine may mature in neutral barrels depending on the vintage.
About the Manufacturer
An integral part of Piedmont winemaking is the Vajra family — owners of Azienda Agricola G.D. Vajra. The family owns 28 hectares of land, which they have carefully cultivated since 1972. Today, the owners are Aldo and Milena Vajra — a couple at the forefront of producing impeccable, balanced wines that are a reward for their dedication to their craft. Undoubtedly, Vajra wines reflect the soul of their owners, who tirelessly and lovingly engage in the work of their lives. The wines of the estate are known for their maturity and openness. Wine critics speak of Vajra wines only in enthusiastic terms — they are "noble", "aristocratic", "elegant", and simply "the best". Vajra wines possess unexpected maturity even at a young age. With a sufficiently powerful and meaty taste, they are distinguished by a special refinement and delicacy of flavor and aroma. Any wine from G.D. Vajra — whether a classic Cru (Bricco delle Viole) or a modern Riesling (Langhe Bianco) — can provide unforgettable sensations and win hearts for a long time.
