Interesting facts

The wine "La Clarte de Haut-Brion" has a very fresh taste and is very easy to drink. This wine can be called a descendant of two famous white wines from Domaine Clarence Dillon: Chateau Haut-Brion Blanc and Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc. The first release of "La Clarte de Haut-Brion" took place in 2009. Before that, the wine was released under the name "Les Plantiers du Haut-Brion". The 2014 season was cool and rainy, resulting in bud break starting later than usual. But in July and August, it was warm and dry enough to complete the ripening of the berries. Harvesting was done by hand at the end of September. The fermentation of the must and aging of the wine took place in oak barrels for a year.

About the Manufacturer

The estate of Chateau Haut-Brion is one of the oldest in Pessac-Leognan and has its history dating back to 1550. It was in this year that Jean de Pontac built his ancestral castle here and later created some of the most exquisite wines, greatly admired by Cardinal Richelieu and members of the royal family. Today, Chateau Haut-Brion is part of the so-called "Great Five" of the best Bordeaux producers, alongside Chateau Mouton-Rothschild, Chateau Lafite-Rothschild, Chateau Latour, and Chateau Margaux, and its wines still belong to the highest category of wines according to the Bordeaux classification of 1855 — Premier Grand Cru Classe. The vines on the estate have been cultivated for at least six centuries. The total area of the vineyards is 46 hectares, located on the typical deep (about 15 meters) gravel soils of this appellation, containing quartz and pebbles. White varieties occupy an area of 2.7 hectares. The planting density is 8,000 vines/hectare. The average age of the vines is 35 years.
