Interesting facts
Cuvée Ronsures Chardonnay Grand Cru by Nicolas Maillart from Champagne is a unique Blanc de Blancs, offering a rare interpretation of the Buzancy terroir. Buzancy, known for its Pinot Noir, presents a distinctive interpretation of Chardonnay in a generous, structured, and decidedly gastronomic style. A cuvée from the heart of Buzancy. The Cuvée Ronsures is produced from a plot of just 0.9 hectares, located at the foot of the hill on pure white soils of Champagne. This vineyard was planted over thirty years ago with Chardonnay and is situated on deep limestone soil, which imparts firmness and a distinct mineral nuance to the grapes. Work in the vineyard is conducted according to high standards: soil plowing, respecting natural rhythms, and a gentle approach to plant protection, combining organic and biodynamic principles with classical solutions when necessary. The grapes are vinified in oak barrels without malolactic fermentation to preserve the natural brilliance of the grape variety and highlight the wine's individuality. The wine is aged on fine lees for 8 months, which adds richness and complexity without distorting the purity of the fruit flavor.
About the Manufacturer
The Maillart family has been growing grapes since 1753. Nicolas Maillart is the ninth generation managing the vineyards in Chamery. Remaining true to the traditions of the Champagne region, the Maillart estate is planted exclusively with Pinot Noir (75%) and Chardonnay (25%). The majority of the vines are planted on the mid-slope, in the Buzancy terroir, which is favorable for growing and harvesting in a cool climate. The grapes undergo a 52-hour maceration to give them a beautiful color. Bottles are aged on the lees for at least a year and disgorged just before release.
