About the Manufacturer
Vodka under the brand "Wyborowa" was developed in Poland in 1926, and the following year its production and supply to export markets began. The vodka got its name from the word "wyborowy", meaning "excellent". This adjective was used in a favorable press article after the drink was released, resulting in the final name Wódka Wyborowa or simply "Wyborowa". In the 1950s and 60s, "Wyborowa" conquered all major European countries, accounting for more than 60% of the total vodka exported to the United Kingdom. After the period of economic transformation in the early 1990s, the Poznań distillery faced serious problems and was close to filing for bankruptcy. However, due to the great international popularity of its main product — "Wyborowa" vodka — the plant was bought by the French alcohol producer Pernod Ricard, owner of the trademarks for whiskey "Jameson" and "Chivas Regal", tequila "Olmecka", cognac "Martell" and "Biscuit", gin "Beefeater", wine "Campo Viejo", champagne "Perrier Jouet" and other brands.
