Interesting facts
The red wine Bronzone is made from Sangiovese grapes grown in Morellino di Scansano at an altitude of 70-130 meters above sea level. The average age of the vines is 13 years. The grapes are harvested by hand at the end of September. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 14 months in small French oak barrels and 4-5 months in bottles after bottling. "Bronzone" has good aging potential — at least 10 years.
About the Manufacturer
The "Tenuta Belguardo" winery was acquired in 1990 by the Mazzei marquises, who also own the famous "Fonterutoli" estate in Tuscany and "Zisola" in Sicily. The Mazzei marquises played an important role in the history of Tuscan winemaking: thanks to them, the name "Chianti" was established in 1398. The "Tenuta Belguardo" estate is located in the Maremma region between the hills of Montiano and Grosseto, 10 kilometers from the sea. The Maremma subregion is not as well-known as Montalcino and Chianti but has great potential. New vines have been planted on the estate's 32 hectares of vineyards, improvements have been made to existing vineyards, and vinification technologies have been perfected. After recently acquiring an additional 40 hectares of adjacent land, new efficient cellars have been built. Excellent soils, a unique climate combined with the winemakers' expertise have made "Tenuta Belguardo" a model estate in the Maremma region, and its wines have gained recognition worldwide.
