About the Manufacturer
The Rottensteiner family is one of the oldest in South Tyrol, and their connection to winemaking has not been interrupted for generations. This is reflected in the very name, as "stein" in German means "stone", and "rot" means "red". It is the rocky, red-colored soils that distinguish the rugged region around Bolzano. The family business was founded in 1956 by Hans Rottensteiner. In the 1980s, his son, Toni, initiated the production of bottled wines, using not only the harvest from their own vineyards but also from 60 local farmers. Since 2001, his son, Hannes, has joined the team. "Wine is born in the vineyard," so a respectful attitude towards the vine defines their viticulture methods. No wine can be bottled until it has been approved by all members of the Rottensteiner family.
