About the Manufacturer

The Pays d'Hérault appellation is located on the southern coast of France. The extensive area of the appellation covers territories from the Cévennes mountains to the plains along the Mediterranean Sea. Most vineyards are spread across the lower slopes of hills and in coastal plains. This is a very productive region, home to many famous French wines. The proximity to the sea ensures mild winters, rainy springs and autumns, but summers are predominantly hot, which contributes to excellent grape ripening. A fresh sea breeze passes through the vineyards, cooling the grapes and slowing their ripening. Both white and red grape varieties have adapted excellently to the local microclimate and soil, becoming the foundation for magnificent wines with generous fruity aromas and soft, juicy, fresh flavors. The "Mas de Daumas Gassac" estate is a renowned producer of local wines (vin de pays), bringing fame to the Languedoc province with its eponymous wine "Mas de Daumas Gassac". Although this wine does not belong to any official appellation, it has been honored as "one of the 10 best wines in the world" (Michael Broadbent), the only "Grand Cru of Southern France" (Hugh Johnson), the "Lafite of Languedoc" (the authoritative restaurant guide Gault Millau), and simply "an exceptional wine" (R. Parker). The estate "Mas de Daumas Gassac" was acquired by Parisian glove maker Aime Guibert, who never planned to engage in winemaking until rocky soil (garigue) with an icy layer beneath it was discovered on his land, ideal for cultivating grapes. By producing wines under the designation "vin de pays", winemakers have great freedom for innovation and experimentation with wines. This path has become the road to success for the owner of the "Mas de Daumas Gassac" estate. "Every morning I go outside and say: 'Long live nature! And to hell with new technologies!' I am called an anarchist, but in reality, I work as farmers used to work. I bring and plant the grape varieties that I really need, so a bottle of my wine can consist of 20 different grape varieties," says Aime Guibert. On the unique vineyards of Aime Guibert, varieties such as Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cote de Merlot from Pomerol, Syrah from Cote Rotie, Salt from Syria, Pinot from Burgundy, and even Kontorni, Voskehat, and Saperavi from Armenia are cultivated. The vineyard also cultivates ancient varieties planted back in 1914 in forest vineyards.
