Interesting facts
"Pa Road" Marlborough Pinot Noir is an intense, generous, and multifaceted wine made from Pinot Noir grapes grown in the unique terroir of New Zealand's Marlborough region. The grapes for the wine come from 5 different vineyards. The harvest is carried out when the berries reach optimal ripeness and lasts about 10 days. Pre-fermentation maceration is carried out at a low temperature for 4-6 days. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. Part of the wine is aged in oak barrels, and part in steel tanks for 9 months.
About the Manufacturer
The history of the family winery te Pa Family Vineyards dates back to the 1350s. It was then that a settlement of people, descendants of Haysley MacDonald—the current owner of the estate—was founded at the mouth of the Wairau River. Haysley's descendants lived on these lands for centuries, but it was only in the 20th century that they began to cultivate the land (growing potatoes) and raise livestock. Haysley traveled extensively in the US, getting to know the world and discovering new interesting opportunities. Upon returning to his homeland, he was supposed to continue the family farming business at his father's request. But Haysley decides to go into winemaking and in 2003 plants the first vines on his land. In 2011, the brand "te Pa" appears, which immediately gains recognition from wine critics. The vineyards, covering an area of about 400 hectares, are located in the unique microclimate of the Marlborough region, between the mighty Wairau River and the azure waters of Cook Strait. This location provides a continuous flow of air throughout the growing season, which significantly reduces the risk of disease and compensates for heat spikes in mid-summer. The soils under the vineyards vary from rich fertile loams to sandy and silty ones. Thanks to the uniqueness of the microclimate, the wines produced from local grapes have a soft acidity, a piquant aroma, and mature flavor characteristics. Among the company's wide range of wines, you can always find a drink to your taste and budget.
