Interesting facts
Cuvee 36 is a classic Italian dry sparkling wine. Its creation is based on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes grown in the Alta Langa region at an altitude of 250 meters above sea level. Unique natural conditions help grow grapes with excellent taste qualities, from which a magical wine is created in the ancient cellars of the Gancia House, a candidate for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage list. The cellars house a true historical treasure — the Marmonnier press. It ensures gentle pressing of the grape berries without damaging the skin, preventing the wine from being colored. The resulting must undergoes fermentation at a consistently low temperature. Secondary fermentation by the classic method occurs in bottles and lasts for 40 days. The bottles are then moved to the cellars for aging in cool conditions for 36 months.
About the Manufacturer
Carlo Gancia was born in 1829. He spent several years in France, in Reims, studying champagne production methods. Upon returning home, Gancia opened his Wine House in 1850. The first territory 'covered' by Carlo Gancia was the lands of Piedmont. Gancia was convinced that the soil of Piedmont was perfect for growing grapes for champagne. An exciting period of work and experimentation with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay began, resulting in the creation of Italian sparkling wine based on champagne, known worldwide today as "Asti" in 1865. Subsequently, Gancia acquired vineyards in Apulia and Sicily to create new projects, utilizing the potential of different regions. Carlo Gancia's passion for the land and vineyards, along with a constant search for innovative and pioneering methods, became a solid foundation on which the Gancia Wine House grew over time, playing a leading role not only in Italy but also in the markets of Europe and the world. Gancia sparkling wines are renowned for their highest quality, confirmed by numerous awards from various international competitions, as well as recognition from the European elite: the Gancia House was chosen as the exclusive supplier to the royal court as early as 1870 and was granted the right to use the monarchy's coat of arms; the Gancia House was appointed supplier to the pontiff in 1924 and received the right to use the Pope's coat of arms; the Gancia House was officially declared the supplier to the royal court of Sweden in 1951.
