Interesting facts
The Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru vineyard represents the Holy Grail of Burgundy. According to legend, a farmer discovered a sculpture depicting three goddesses of fertility in the field, hence the name Bonnes Mares. The wine Domaine Georges Roumier, Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru AOC is produced from one of the best grape varieties in France — Pinot Noir, grown in the Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru vineyard, located on the right side of the slope in Morey-Saint-Denis. The harvest is conducted exclusively by hand, and the grapes undergo sorting followed by pressing and fermentation in wooden vats with strict temperature control. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, half of which are new.
About the Manufacturer
The Domaine Georges Roumier winery was founded in 1924, but until 1945, the wine was sold to local wine merchants. After 1945, Georges Roumier began bottling his wines himself. In 1957, the reins passed to Georges' son, Jean-Marie. Since 1982, Jean-Marie's son, Christophe, has joined the family business. Since 1992, the winery has been owned by Christophe Roumier. Today, Domaine Georges Roumier wines are successful in many European countries, and their highest quality is confirmed by numerous high ratings from world-renowned wine critics.
