Sepp Moser Classic Style Organic Zweigelt

The Moser family is one of Austria's oldest winemaking dynasties. In 1848, Anton Moser founded his winery in the small village of Rohrendorf. The most famous member of the family was Lenz Moser, who in the 1950s invented the "Lenz-Moser system." Lenz's twin sons, Lorenz and Sepp, managed the winery from the 1960s onwards. Sepp cared for the vineyards, while Lorenz was in charge of the cellar. The company flourished and was one of the first Austrian wineries to export wine worldwide. However, in the mid-1980s, the Austrian wine export market collapsed. This crisis also affected the Lenz Moser winery, which was subsequently sold. After this setback, Sepp Moser decided to start his own company. He reduced the number of family vineyards in Kremstal and Neusiedlersee, keeping only the best. Today, the total vineyard area is 50 hectares. In 2000, Sepp's son, Nikolaus, took over the management of the company. He decided to transform the winery into a fully biodynamic estate. His main goal is to cultivate grapevines on healthy, living soil. Thanks to diligent work, Sepp Moser was one of the first in Austria to receive the "Demeter" certification. "Demeter" is the oldest traditional organic certification in Europe and is considered the highest level of quality for organic farming worldwide.
