Interesting facts

The dry white wine "Vigne Basse" Vermentino represents the Liguria region, renowned for its white wines. The vineyards are located in the municipalities of Fosdinovo and Castelnuovo at an altitude of 50-100 meters above sea level. The grapes are grown on predominantly sandy-silty and gravel-rich soils. The harvest is hand-picked in September in two passes depending on the ripeness of the berries in each plot. The reception of grapes at the winery is carried out using inert gas systems to reduce pressure on the grapes before they enter the press. A long pressing cycle, cold static decantation, and subsequent fermentation at controlled temperatures are carried out in steel containers. The wine is aged on fine lees for 4 months, imparting expressive aromas. Bottling occurs in February with minimal sulfur addition. After bottling, the wine matures for several more weeks in the winery's cellars. "Vigne Basse" Vermentino showcases a clean, rich aroma and a balanced, very drinkable taste. It is recommended to serve with fish dishes, seafood, and light appetizers.

About the Manufacturer

The Terenzuola estate was founded in the municipality of Fosdinovo in the heart of the Colli di Luni region, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. In the early 1930s, Luigi Giuliani, returning from New York after the 1929 crisis, purchased the estate covering 3 hectares. The estate's territory was ideal for growing olives, vegetables, and producing honey. In 1993, the reins of the small family business were taken over by Ivan Giuliani, Luigi's grandson. During this period, the wines produced in the Colli di Luni area received DOC classification, guaranteeing geographical origin and winemaking technology. Ivan actively engaged in the estate's life, focusing his efforts on wine production. The first significant result of the new owner was the 1999 harvest. At that time, a new winery was established on the estate, and a course was set to expand the vineyard areas. By 2004, the harvest was already collected from 10 hectares, and since 2006, Ivan has continued to actively expand his vineyards, aiming to unite the territories of Luni, Cinque Terre, and Lunigiana. By 2007, the vineyard area had grown to 15 hectares, and local farmer Marco Nicolini — a long-time friend of Mr. Giuliani — was brought on board. In the same year, Ivan Giuliani began a joint project in Cinque Terre with the Pazini family, not only to expand the geography of his production but also to create new wines characteristic of a specific region. In this sense, the Cinque Terre area ("Five Lands") is unique. On the steep coastal cliffs, five villages (Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore) literally "cling to the rocks." Here, on the man-made dry stone terraces, rich in sandstone and gravel, grapes have been cultivated for thousands of years. However, in the 1960s, due to the decline of the region's socio-economic development, the lands were gradually forgotten. Despite their value being confirmed by their inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997 and the designation as a National Park of Italy, Ivan Giuliani decided to revive the ancient traditions of local winemaking and thus contribute to the preservation of the unique landscape painstakingly built by ancestors centuries ago.
