About the Manufacturer
The history of the "Cantina Terlano" cooperative began over 100 years ago with the unification of 24 wine producers to collectively combat the phylloxera invasion. Today, the cooperative comprises around 100 producers, with a total vineyard area of 150 hectares, producing 1.2 million bottles of wine annually. The vineyards of the members of the "Cantina Terlano" cooperative are located in the foothills of the Chogelberg range, at altitudes ranging from 250 to 900 meters above sea level, which positively influences the cultivation and selection of grape varieties. These areas are renowned for their unique soils, consisting of quartz porphyry — a rock that was previously used to make purple dye. The terroir has a strong influence on the formation of the flexible and dense structure of wines from the Terlano region. The cellars of the "Terlano" estate have long preserved the most valuable vintages. Today, there are 12,000 bottles of various vintages, starting from 1955. There are also several unique bottles of wine from the 1893 vintage, which are contemporaries of the cellar. This is one of the rarest wine collections in Italy, convincingly demonstrating how mature and harmonious the wines of "Terlano" are, as well as how elegantly and exquisitely they age. It is unlikely that there is another estate in Alto Adige besides "Cantina Terlano" that can present 15 premium wines to renowned wine experts from "Wine Advocate", 14 of which received high ratings — from 91/100 to 94/100 points. Moreover, it is unlikely that there is another wine cooperative in Italy with such a high-level assortment. This is the phenomenon of "Cantina Terlano", which has proven that the "collective" model of winemaking can yield results that are not only comparable but often surpass those of private estates.
