Interesting facts
In 1967, Lugana was recognized as a DOC zone, one of the first such zones in Italy. Today, high-quality wines are produced in this region from Trebbiano di Lugana grapes. This variety is widely spread in Italy as it adapts well to the local climate and soils. The village of San Benedetto is located between Desenzano and Peschiera. The vineyard is situated at an altitude of 60-80 meters above sea level, on clay-limestone soils. Trebbiano di Lugana is harvested by hand in late September to early October. After gentle pressing, the grapes are fermented in steel tanks at a temperature of 18-20 °C.
