Interesting facts
Very fresh, juicy Vermentino "Etichetta Grigia" wine is made from Vermentino grapes grown in vineyards in Castelnuovo Magra and Ortonovo in Colli di Luni in northwestern Italy. Interestingly, the Colli di Luni vineyards, classified as DOC, are located in two regions of Italy — Liguria and Tuscany. The cultivation of grapes and winemaking in Colli di Luni is strictly controlled by the conditions of the denomination. The rocky soil of the vineyard, where Vermentino for the "Etichetta Grigia" ("gray label") wine is cultivated, has a rich texture. The average age of the vines is 35 years. The harvest is collected by hand in mid-September and undergoes gentle pressing. The fermentation of the must takes place in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine is aged in steel containers for about 3 months.

Today, Cantine Lunae boasts several magnificent vineyards classified as DOC and IGT. Cantine Lunae is the largest wine producer in the region, using grapes from its own 15 vineyards (three of which are experimental), as well as purchasing from 150 small producers in Liguria. Cantine Lunae offers a range of different still wines — red, white, and rosé, produced from various grape varieties, including indigenous ones for the region. However, the main variety for Lunae is undoubtedly Vermentino. With an annual production volume of about 450,000 bottles, 200,000 of which are Vermentino wines, they are not only the most famous from the Lunae cellars but also the most awarded. Lunae also produces sparkling wines, various liqueurs, and grappa from Vermentino.
