Interesting facts
The Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey is a blended Irish whiskey with the mysterious name "Dead Rabbit". The blend is crafted by renowned master distiller Darryl McNally, who has been producing whiskey for over 20 years. The recipe combines the finest malt distillates, which undergo a two-stage aging process. Initially, the whiskey is aged for five years in bourbon barrels, and finally — in small new oak barrels made specifically for the manufacturer. The whiskey owes its name to a bloody period in US history in the second half of the 19th century when New York was ruled by gangs of thugs. One of these groups, quite large by those standards, was the "Dead Rabbits," whose leader, John Morrissey, later became a congressman and senator from the Democratic Party.
About the Manufacturer
The Dublin Liberties Distillery is one of the oldest distilleries in Ireland, located in the heart of Dublin, in an area that has long been considered a place of underground gambling houses, brothels, and bars. This area was hidden in the shadow of the city cathedrals and could only be accessed through a single arch with an oak devil on it. Locally, this place was simply called "hell." Today, The Dublin Liberties Distillery is part of the Quintessential Brands company. In addition to it, the group includes such enterprises as G&J Greenall, Alize, Essential Drinks. The Dakin family, who founded the distillery, had close friendly and working relations with the Greenall family. In 1870, the distillery came under the management of the Greenall family, and the name was changed to G & J Greenall, which became synonymous with quality gin. The distillery remained in the hands of the Greenall family, passing from one generation to another. By 1960, due to the increasing popularity of gin, production was moved to a large building opposite the Greenall brewery. In the following decades, the company experienced impressive growth, including the launch of Vladivar vodka in 1971. Today, the international group Quintessential Brands has a solid portfolio with a wide range of spirits and liqueurs.
