Interesting facts
Jermann, Pinot Grigio, Friuli-Venezia Giulia IGT — a stylish and refreshing white wine with regional character and subtle depth. It is made from grapes sourced from high-altitude sites with poor marl and sandstone soils, which reduces yield and enhances flavor. It features delicate mineral notes, lively acidity, and juicy notes of ripe fruits. The aroma unfolds with elegant notes of pear and wet stone, giving the bouquet exquisite depth and authenticity. The first vintage of Pinot Grigio dates back to 1974. The wine's storage potential averages 3-4 years but can reach up to eight years. All of Silvio Jermann's wines are very drinkable at a young age. However, they reach their true greatness only 2-3 years after bottling and then fully express their typical varietal characteristics.
About the Manufacturer
Silvio Jermann is a true revolutionary in winemaking. Before him, Friuli, a region located in northern Italy, had a reputation for producing light aromatic white wines that were easy to drink but did not hold much interest beyond the locality. Silvio, having graduated from two renowned wine academies: Conegliano and Istituto di San Michele, enriched with quite bold ideas, began his work in Canada. This allowed him to conduct experiments that he could only dream of back home, where winemakers steadfastly followed conservative ideas and long-established traditions. In the 70s, Silvio returned to his homeland, where he inherited the winery from his great-grandfather, Anton Jermann. Thanks to his experience, innovative ideas, and commitment to traditions, Silvio began producing the best white wines in the country. His "Vintage Tunina", "Capo Martino", and "W… Dreams" consistently top Italian rankings and have brought the company unimaginable success and worldwide fame. Today, Jermann's holdings extend over 150 hectares of land, of which 130 hectares are vineyards, and the remaining 20 are dedicated to grain crops grown for organic flour production. The main principles that Jermann adheres to in producing its wines are a skillful combination of innovation and tradition and boundless imagination. And of course, the use of historical local grape varieties. According to Silvio himself, wine should awaken the senses and provide a sense of authenticity.
