Hans Rottensteiner Gewurztraminer Alto Adige DOC 2021

Gewurztraminer is one of the most famous wines of South Tyrol. The unmistakable bouquet and taste of Hans Rottensteiner, Gewurztraminer, Alto Adige DOC, with characteristic spicy, floral, and at the same time fruity notes, emphasize the elegant style of the wine, making it light and versatile, despite its high alcohol level (14.5%). The grapes are grown in the Bolzano and Caldaro districts in the Alto Adige region on sandy soils. After slow pressing for 5-6 hours, the pressed juice is fermented at a temperature of 20 °C. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve its fresh varietal aroma. The wine has a potential aging capacity of 2-3 years. The year 2021 in Trentino-Alto Adige was challenging in many aspects. The winter months were mostly sunny but very cold. In spring, the air temperature rose periodically and only briefly, which slowed down the development of the vine. However, the warm and sunny beginning of summer compensated for the delay in the growing cycle. August and July were marked by unstable weather conditions. The harvest began relatively late this year. The rainy September posed a serious challenge for grape growers, but the results turned out to be impressive, fortunately.
