"Aile d`Argent", 2019 is a very impressive white wine with an exotic aroma and energetic, very ripe taste. In 2019, the blend included Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, and Muscadelle grapes harvested from September 5 to 11. During the production of the wine, malolactic fermentation was conducted for 17% of the must, which emphasized the wine's soft texture. Rich, complex, and elegant, "Aile d`Argent", produced in very limited quantities, has become a coveted drink for lovers of expressive white Bordeaux wines. The aging potential of the vintage is 10-12 years. Philippine de Rothschild, the owner of Chateau Mouton Rothschild, tells the story of the wine's name as follows: "Aile d`Argent ... Two unusual words that have emerged from the depths of time, this is a connection between the past and the present, between my father Baron Philippe de Rothschild and me. When I was a little girl, my father invented a fairy tale for me, the hero of which was a magical teapot. His incredible adventures enchanted me and brought magic to my childhood. The teapot was called "Aile d`Argent". The war began, my father was arrested. In prison, he wrote the story from memory, which he titled "The Silver Wing of Magic". It was published under this title in 1947 by Gallimard. Aile d`Argent… I am happy that these words, which once made me dream, now take on form and color."
About the Manufacturer
Chateau Mouton Rothschild is among the greatest chateaux in Bordeaux and is undoubtedly the brightest star of Pauillac, with its wines being some of the best in the world. The first Rothschild to take winemaking seriously was Baron Philippe, although the estate was purchased in 1853 by his grandfather Nathaniel Rothschild. It was Baron Philippe who first experimented with most of the technologies now used by all top chateaux. The main innovation of the baron was that wines began to be bottled directly at the estate, rather than at merchants. In addition, the winemaking processes themselves were improved, allowing Cabernet Sauvignon to achieve sophistication, expressiveness, power, and a lifespan that practically approaches infinity. Baron Philippe was also the only person who managed to make changes to the Bordeaux wine classification established in 1855: the classification was revised in 1973, and the estate changed its second growth to a well-deserved first growth. Even the Chateau Mouton Rothschild itself deserves special attention, as Baron Philippe and his daughter Philippine, who is now the owner of the chateau, have long collected art related to wine. The castle houses the "Wine in Art" Museum, founded in 1962. Chateau Mouton Rothschild is also famous for its collection of labels for its wines, which have featured works by famous contemporary artists since 1945.
