Interesting facts
Chateau Cos d`Estournel Blanc is a luxurious dry white wine that evokes the freshness of sea spray and the ocean breeze, splashing the face and carrying aromas, as well as the warmth and richness of the earth. Chateau Cos d`Estournel Blanc is vibrant and generous, providing true pleasure upon tasting. It is created from Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon grapes. The 2020 vintage was quite favorable, allowing the grapes to ripen without showing signs of excessive stress, mainly due to their deep roots and excellent adaptation to the terroir. Harvesting took place from August 31 to September 10. The yield was 24 hectoliters per hectare. A concentrated and rich harvest of Sauvignon Blanc was obtained, convincing winemakers to give it a larger share in the blend. Harvesting is done by hand, and at the winery, the fruits undergo gentle pressing followed by fermentation at controlled temperatures in stainless steel containers. The wine is aged in oak barrels, 8% of which are new. Cos d`Estournel Blanc, 2020 is a very refined and rich vintage, demonstrating remarkable balance, which undoubtedly promises it a long future. At its peak maturity, the vintage will be at its best for at least 15 years!
About the Manufacturer
The founder of Chateau Cos d`Estournel, Louis Gaspar d`Estournel, born in 1762 during the reign of Louis XV and lived to be 91 years old, had only one passion: Chateau Cos. Inherited a small vineyard, he produced his first wine in 1811 and decided to dedicate himself to vinification, experimenting with varieties and their processing. Quite quickly, the wines of Cos d`Estournel surpassed many of the most prestigious wines in popularity and were even exported to India. Louis even earned the nickname "Maharaja of Saint-Estephe". The wines of Cos d`Estournel were enjoyed by Queen Victoria and Russian tsars. Emperor Napoleon III loved these wines so much that several thousand bottles were delivered to the Tuileries Palace. A year before his death, in 1852, Louis sold the Chateau. Two years after the death of its creator, the 1855 imperial classification placed Cos d`Estournel at the top of the Saint-Estephe region. Changing hands many times, in 2000 the Chateau came into the possession of Michel Reybier, who aims to maintain the high standards of the estate, constantly striving for perfection while continuing the style initiated by Louis Gaspar d`Estournel. Thanks to his efforts, the wines of Chateau Cos d`Estournel can now be found in the private cellars of wealthy wine lovers throughout Europe, Asia, and America.
