Interesting facts
Cepas Jovenes is a young, light, very drinkable wine made from Tempranillo grapes from young 13-year-old vines and Garnacha grapes from 100-year-old vines. The grapes are mainly grown in the valley between the villages of Peñalba de San Esteban and Atauta. Tempranillo is harvested at the "El Portillazgo" estate, located at an altitude of 850 meters above sea level, in a sunny spot with well-drained, stony soil. The harvest is hand-picked from October 13th to 31st and carefully delivered to the winery, where it is meticulously sorted on a selection table. The grapes are destemmed and crushed. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 23 ºC to best preserve the varietal aroma. During the 9-day maceration, must pumping of varying intensity is regularly performed. The wine's freshness is preserved by early bottling.
About the Manufacturer
Rudeles is a family project born from a great desire to continue the work of ancestors who, from generation to generation, passed on a passion for the vineyard, its fruits, and the almost forgotten wine culture. The company Rudeles has four partners, each with special ties to the town of Peñalba. The name Rudeles is formed from the initials of the surnames of the 4 owners. From the very first day of this project, the company has sought to reflect in the wine the qualities of its land and the vines planted over 90 years ago. For this reason, Rudeles pays special attention to vineyard care, constantly working but adapting to the climatic conditions that strongly influence the vineyard's evolution, without abandoning the forms and customs handed down by grandparents. The Rudeles vineyards are located in Peñalba de San Esteban, in the province of Soria, on the eastern edge of Ribera del Duero, an area little known for its wines. Peñalba is a small but charming town with stone and adobe houses. There is no shortage of streams, poplars, and increasingly rare elms. It is a paradise for hoopoes, hawks, bee-eaters, rabbits, and corn buntings. The aromas of lavender, gorse, and fresh wheat perfume the sandy, clay, and pebbly soils that produce excellent grape harvests.
