About the Manufacturer
The Biurko winery was created in 1992. "Biurko" is a Basque word meaning "two-water zone" or "from two red rivers." It is the name of the area formed in the valley between two streams and two hills. The winery is located in Bargota, a small town at the foot of the Yoar mountain range (Sierra de Cantabria) at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. Bargota is a city with great wine traditions, inherited from generation to generation. The city's building structures are a clear example of the importance of wine in its economy and the lifestyle of its inhabitants. The wineries built in stone houses, dug underground, allowed each family to develop and maintain its wines without the technological elements used today. The philosophy of Bodegas Biurko Gorri is to cultivate its vineyards, preserving natural farming traditions and combining them with modern technologies that allow the production of wines with the best quality without losing varietal and terroir identity. Thanks to its 45 hectares of vineyards in different areas, the company offers a wide range of wines on the market, made in a modern style but always fruity and well-balanced.
