Interesting facts
The elegant white wine Tenuta Ulisse, Cococciola, Terre di Chieti IGP is made from Cococciola grapes grown in the province of Chieti. The harvest is carried out when the berries reach optimal ripeness, usually in the first half of October. During the harvest, ice is placed at the bottom of the boxes. The grapes, cooled using the innovative "Ulisse" cooling tunnel system, are gently pressed in an inert atmosphere (to prevent oxidation) and undergo maceration in contact with the skins in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation is carried out at a temperature of 8-11 °C in temperature-controlled inert tanks. The wine is aged for three months in steel tanks.
About the Manufacturer
Tenuta Ulisse has become known in Italian winemaking circles relatively recently. The estate is located in the small village of Crecchio, between the Adriatic Sea and the rocky foothills of Majella. The Ulisse brothers—Antonio and Luigi—wanted to ensure continuity for the family business founded by their grandfather Antonio in the early 1900s, who put considerable effort into its development with passion and dedication. The history of the estate began with just 2 hectares of land, which today number 30 hectares. Thanks to the contribution of Antonio and Luigi, who managed the estate before the current owners, Tenuta Ulisse became known on the international market precisely for its innovations in winemaking, as an excellent example of success in a region that for many years was closed in the model of traditional winemaking. To produce quality wines with excellent, rich aromas, the Ulisse family, starting in 2006, has continuously improved the technological process, applying significant innovations in combination with many years of experience and traditions. "We combine our traditions and innovation, always in search of the best quality, while treating our history with great care. We refine our methods annually, while maintaining our traditional character, typical of our wines—with an original and clear style, characteristic of Abruzzo."
