Gulfi Reseca Sicilia IGT
The wine is ruby in color.
The complex aroma of the wine reveals hints of red fruits and berries, notes of black currants, almonds, hazelnuts, and gravel dust.
The taste of the wine is open, direct, rich, with elegant hints of red fruits, black currants, and spices, balsamic nuances, and a perfect balance between dense tannins and beautiful acidity.
The wine pairs beautifully with strong but not overly heavy dishes. It goes well with noble meat dishes and game, such as pheasant breast with truffles or venison with a walnut and blueberry sauce. It also harmonizes with large pasta shapes with meat sauce, vegetable risotto with grated cheese.

Interesting facts
"Reseca" is a beautiful, abundant, elegant wine that radiates the full individuality of the Nerello Mascalese grape and the terroir in which it is grown. The "Poggio" vineyard spans 2 hectares of volcanic soils in Monte la Guardia, on the northern slope of Etna. All work on it is done using organic methods. The vines, which are about 100 years old, are planted at a density of 10,000 vines per hectare. Interspersed with chestnut trees on terraces of solidified lava, the landscape of the vineyard is a unique and impressive sight. Nerello Mascalese is often used in blended wines, but the Gulfi winery has showcased the beauty of this variety "in its pure form". The harvest is collected in the second half of October. After fermentation and prolonged maceration on the skins, the wine is placed in small 225-liter French oak barrels, where it is aged for at least 20 months. After bottling without filtration, the wine continues to mature in bottles for 2-3 years depending on the vintage. The wine has a storage potential of 7-12 years.
About the Manufacturer
The history of the Gulfi winery began in 1996 thanks to Vito Catania and his family. The hallmark of the company is the red grape variety Nero d'Avola, which has brought the winery popularity worldwide. In wine production, alongside modern technologies, the traditions of Italian winemaking are utilized. Currently, Gulfi owns 70 hectares of magnificent organic vineyards in eastern Sicily, and from Nero d'Avola, they produce six different wines that impress with their depth and richness. A huge ancient wine press stands at the entrance to the winery, which has become a historical landmark.
