Interesting facts
"Guidalberto" is the second wine of the Tenuta San Guido estate: elegant, complex, and beautifully balanced. The blend includes Merlot grapes, which add roundness and silkiness to the taste, allowing the wine to be enjoyed at a young age. The wine is named in honor of Guidalberto della Gherardesca, who lived in the early 18th century and belonged to the Incisa family. The vineyards where the grapes for "Guidalberto" are grown belong to the Incisa cousins, and these lands border the lands of the Tenuta San Guido estate. The total area of the estate's vineyards is 90 hectares. Poor, stony soils, proximity to the sea, and low yields all contribute to the production of well-ripened, high-quality grapes. Guidalberto della Gherardesca was renowned for his achievements in the agriculture of the region. His main pride is the famous Cypress Avenue in Bolgheri — a recognized national treasure of Italy.
About the Manufacturer
Tenuta San Guido is one of the most famous Italian wine producers, whose vineyards are located in the Tuscan subregion of Bolgheri. In addition to wines, the estate produces traditional extra virgin olive oil and grappa. The estate is owned by the Italian winemaking family Incisa della Rocchetta, who are rightly considered pioneers in the cultivation of Bordeaux grape varieties in Italy and the creation of "Super Tuscan" wines. The Sassicaia vineyards are situated at an altitude of 80 meters above sea level. The nearby sea and the hills surrounding the vineyards significantly influence the climate, protecting them from the wind. The vineyards are planted using the "cordone speronato" technique.
