Interesting facts
"Valcanzjria" is an Italian white dry wine made from a blend of several clones of Chardonnay grown on the Chiaramonte Gulfi plain, and indigenous white grape varieties from eastern Sicily: Carricante and Albanello. The Mutti vineyard, located in the municipality of Chiaramonte Gulfi at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level, was planted in 1999 at a density of 8300 vines per hectare. The grapes are harvested in the second half of September. Fermentation occurs in steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After that, the wine is transferred to stainless steel tanks, where malolactic fermentation and aging take place for 8 months. A few more months before release, the wine is aged in bottles in the winery's cellar.
About the Manufacturer
The history of the Gulfi winery began in 1996 thanks to Vito Catania and his family. The hallmark of the company is the red grape variety Nero d'Avola, which has brought the winery popularity worldwide. In wine production, alongside modern technologies, the traditions of Italian winemaking are utilized. Currently, Gulfi owns 70 hectares of magnificent organic vineyards in eastern Sicily, and from Nero d'Avola, they produce six different wines that impress with their depth and richness. A huge ancient wine press stands at the entrance to the winery, which has become a historical landmark.
